We are presenting the limited-edition Abyss vase, which embodies the new era of the Moser glassworks under the art direction of designer Jan Plechac.

Breathe in, close your eyes and immerse yourself in the unknown. Find courage, determination and the desire to go on. The Abyss vase embodies the revolution of glassmaking as well as the innate emotions of each human being. It is the first Moser piece designed by the creative director Jan Plechac. In his seven-kilogram crystal monument, he depicts his own vision of a new, dynamic Moser, while also continuing the admirable tradition that started in 1857 with the founder of the glassworks, Ludwig Moser.

The innovative crystal object was inspired by the ocean. Lovers of freediving affirm that they find not only inspirational tension in the depths but also peace and harmony. For the Abyss vase, the strain between enormous pressure and meditative lightness embodies the contrast between the organically shaped core and the sharply cut exterior brutalist edges. The vase's core is shaped by the glassmaker's breath, making every piece unique.

Abyss at Rosana Orlandi Gallery

Jan Plechac put the new object from the Karlovy Vary glassworks to one of the hardest tests. The Abyss vase experienced its premiere in the capital of world design, Milan. As part of the prestigious festival Milan Design Week 2023, we presented the vase in the gallery of Italy's most famous collector and curator, Rossana Orlandi. During the event, Abyss was evaluated by professionals and design enthusiasts from all corners of the world. Abyss represents the first taste of the traditional glasswork's revolutionary transformation into a modern, dynamic brand with global reach.

Jan Plechac

The designer and current Art Director of Moser studied architecture at the Academy of Arts, Architecture and Design in Prague. He's won several international and domestic awards for his work and signed his name under world-class projects.
