Gabriel Candle by Trudon

Gabriel brings welcome warmth to a chilly winter afternoon. Notes of leather, cashmere wood, and candied chestnut weave the cozy memory of a fire in the hearth — the most enveloping scent in the Trudon library, and a natural choice for autumn and the holidays.

Founded in 1643, Trudon is the oldest candle maker in the world, once supplying the court of Louis XIV. Each candle is hand-poured at the Trudon workshop in Normandy, France, in a glass vessel mouth-blown in Tuscany and inspired by the shape of a champagne bucket.

Olfactive Pyramid

  • Head Notes: Birch Wood, Glacé Chestnut
  • Heart Notes: Cashmere Wood, Moss
  • Base Notes: Cedarwood, Musk, Patchouli

Intermezzo (800g / 28 oz): Three wicks, best placed in large rooms where it will adorn a chimney or an elegant dinner table. Dimensions: H 16 cm, Ø 13.5 cm. Burning time: 110 to 120 hours.

Great (2.8kg / 105 oz): Five wicks and sculptural presence, at home on a grand staircase or in a jardin à la française. Dimensions: H 21.5 cm, Ø 18 cm. Burning time: more than 300 hours.

Candle Anatomy

  • The Wax: Trudon's wax formulas are the fruit of specific developments and the source of its exceptional olfactory and burning qualities. Properly cared for, a Trudon candle leaves no smoke and no wax on the sides of the glass.
  • The Wick: Made of cotton, chosen to suit the shape and size of each glass and the burning characteristics of each candle.
  • The Glass: Each glass is unique and hand-crafted in Tuscany, its shape inspired by champagne buckets.
  • The Emblem: Inspired by a bas relief found at the old Royal Wax Manufacture that once belonged to the Trudon family.

Care

On first use, allow the wax to melt fully across the surface — roughly two hours — to prevent tunneling. Trim the wick to 5 mm before each lighting, and never burn for more than two hours at a time.
