Built between 1898 and 1900 this Beaux Arts style building was constructed originally as the Gare D’Orsay, but eventually closed as a railway station, and finally converted and opened as a wonderful art museum in 1986 that houses the world’s largest collection of impressionist and post-impressionist works. This aerial view encompasses the Seine in the foreground, the Musée D’Orsay and Paris’s rooftops in the middle ground, and a gray sky and the Eiffel Tower in the distance painted in a masterfully informal manner that is steeped in the atmosphere of Paris.
